Toinstallthecap,alignthetabsonthecapwiththenotchesonthe
fillerpipe.

Turnthefillercapclockwise1/4ofaturnuntilitclicksatleastonce.
Ifthe“CheckFuelCap”indicatorcomesonandstaysonafteryoustart
theengine,thefuelfillercapmaynotbeproperlyinstalled.Turnoffthe
engine,removethefuelfillercap,alignthecapproperlyandreinstallit.
Ifyoumustreplacethefuelfillercap,replaceitwithafuelfiller
capthatisdesignedforyourvehicle.Thecustomerwarrantymay
bevoidforanydamagetothefueltankorfuelsystemifthe
correctgenuineFordorMotorcraftfuelfillercapisnotused.
Thefuelsystemmaybeunderpressure.Ifthefuelfillercapis
ventingvapororifyouhearahissingsound,waituntilitstops
beforecompletelyremovingthefuelfillercap.Otherwise,fuelmay
sprayoutandinjureyouorothers.
Ifyoudonotusetheproperfuelfillercap,excessivepressureor
vacuuminthefueltankmaydamagethefuelsystemorcause
thefuelcaptodisengageinacollision,whichmayresultinpossible
personalinjury.
Fuel Filter
Forfuelfilterreplacement,seeyourdealeroraqualifiedservice
technician.Refertoscheduledmaintenanceinformationforthe
appropriateintervalsforchangingthefuelfilter.
ReplacethefuelfilterwithanauthorizedMotorcraftpart.The
customerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothefuelsystem
ifanauthorizedMotorcraftfuelfilterisnotused.

driver.Youmustgatherinformationasaccuratelyandconsistentlyas
possible.Fuelexpense,frequencyoffill-upsorfuelgaugereadingsare
NOTaccurateasameasureoffueleconomy.Wedonotrecommend
takingfueleconomymeasurementsduringthefirst1,000miles(1,600
km)ofdriving(enginebreak-inperiod).Youwillgetamoreaccurate
measurementafter2,000miles-3,000miles(3,000km–5,000km).
