over  the  front of  the  seat when   their  back is  against  the
seat back,  shou ld use the  lap/  shou lder belt in  a rear seat.
Child ren who  weigh  more than  20 lbs (9 kg) and  who  are
older   than   one   year   can   rid e forw ard -facing   in  the
vehicle.  Forw ard -facing child  seats and  convertible   child
seats used  in the  forw ard -facing direction  are for child ren
who  weigh  20  to 40 lbs  (9 to  18 kg)  and  who  are  older
than   one  year.  These   child  seats   are  also  held   in  the
vehicle  by   the  lap/ shou lder   belt  or  the  LATCH   child
restraint   anchorage   system . Refer  to  LATCH   Child
Seat Anchorage   System   (Lower  Anchors  and  Tether  for
CHildren)”   in this  section.

The belt-p ositioning  booster  seat  is for child ren weighing
more  than 40 lbs  (18 kg), but  who are  still too  small to  fit
the  vehicle s seat  belts   prop erly. If  the  child  cannot   sit
with  knees bent  over  the vehicle s seat  cushion  while  the
child s back  is  against  the  seat  back,  they  shou ld  use a
LATCHChildSeatAnchorageSystem(Lower
AnchorsandTetherforCHildren)
Your   vehicle s  rear   seat   is  equ ipped   with   the   child
restraint   anchorage   system  called  LATCH.  The  LATCH
system  provid es  for the  installation  of  the child  restraint
withou t  using  the  vehicle s  seat  belts,  instead   securing
the  child   restraint   using   lower  anchorages    and  upper
tether   strap s  from   the   child   restraint    to  the   vehicle
stru cture.
