Thewarninglightshouldbecheckedfrequentlytoassure
thatitisoperatingproperly.Turntheignitionkeytothe
onposition,butdonotstartthevehicle.Thelightshould
comeon.Ifthelightdoesnotcomeon,havethesystem
checkedbyanauthorizeddealer.

Anti-LockWarningLight(ABS)—IfEquipped
ThislightmonitorstheAnti-LockBrakeSys-
tem (ABS) described elsewhere in this
manual. This light will come on when the
ignitionkeyisturnedtotheONpositionand
maystayonforaslongasfourseconds.

BrakeSystemWarningLight
Thislightmonitorsvariousbrakefunctions,
including brake fluid level and parking
brakeapplication.Ifthebrakelightturnson,
it may indicate that the parking brake is
applied,thatthebrakefluidlevelislow,orthatthere
is a problem with the anti-lock brake system (if
equipped).
IftheABSlightremainsonorcomesonduringdriving,
itindicatesthattheAnti-Lockportionofthebrakesystem
isnotfunctioningandthatserviceisrequired,however,
the conventional brake system will continue to operate
normallyprovidedthattheBRAKEwarninglightisnot
on.
Thedualbrakesystemprovidesareservebrakingcapac-
ityintheeventofafailuretoaportionofthehydraulic
system.Failureofeitherhalfofthedualbrakesystemis
IftheABSlightison,thebrakesystemshouldbeserviced
as soon as possible to restore the benefit of Anti-Lock
Brakes.
