Drivingthroughdeepwater–theelectricalsystemmaybewet.
Thesetemporarymalfunctionscanbecorrectedbyfillingthefueltank
withgoodqualityfuel,properlytighteningthefuelcaporlettingthe
electricalsystemdryout.Afterthreedrivingcycleswithouttheseorany
othertemporarymalfunctionspresent,the
indicatorshouldstayoff
thenexttimetheengineisstarted.Adrivingcycleconsistsofacold
enginestartupfollowedbymixedcity/highwaydriving.Noadditional
vehicleserviceisrequired.
Ifthe
indicatorremainson,haveyourvehicleservicedatthefirst
availableopportunity.Althoughsomemalfunctionsdetectedbythe
OBD-IImaynothavesymptomsthatareapparent,continueddriving
withthe
indicatoroncanresultinincreasedemissions,lowerfuel
economy,reducedengineandtransmissionsmoothness,andleadtomore
costlyrepairs.

testifthe
indicatorisonornotworkingproperly(bulbisburned
out),oriftheOBD-IIsystemhasdeterminedthatsomeoftheemission
controlsystemshavenotbeenproperlychecked.Inthiscase,thevehicle
isconsiderednotreadyforI/Mtesting.

indicatorisonorthebulbdoesnotwork,thevehiclemay
