UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL
When the approp riate cond itions exist, the follow ing
messages will display in the wind ow below the fuel and
engine tem peratu re gau ge:
Compass/Temperature Display
Com pass Varian ce
Com pass Variance is the difference betw een magnetic
North and Geograp hic North. In som e areas of the
country, the difference betw een magnetic and geograp hic
North is great enou gh to introd uce som e compass error.
In ord er to ensu re compass accuracy, the compass vari-
ance shou ld be prop erly set accord ing to the compass
variance zone map for the vehicle’s current location. The
compass in you r vehicle will now autom atically compen-
sate for this difference.
E . . . . . . . . Eight-point compass headings are displayed
(N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, SW)

NOTE: Temperatu re and Average Fuel Econom y can be
changed from U.S. or Metric. by pressing and hold ing the
(left) second ary push button.
