Maintenance and Specifications
Forvehicleswithoverflowcoolantsystemswithanon-pressurizedcap
onthecoolantrecoverysystem,addcoolanttothecoolantrecovery
reservoirwhentheengineiscool.Addthepropermixtureofcoolantand
watertothe“FULLCOLD”level.Forallothervehicleswhichhavea
coolantdegassystemwithapressurizedcap,orifitisnecessaryto
removethecoolantpressurereliefcapontheradiatorofavehiclewith
anoverflowsystem,followthesestepstoaddenginecoolant.
Toreducetheriskofpersonalinjury,makesuretheengineis
coolbeforeunscrewingthecoolantpressurereliefcap.The
coolingsystemisunderpressure;steamandhotliquidcancomeout
forcefullywhenthecapisloosenedslightly.
Addthepropermixtureofcoolantandwatertothecoolingsystemby
followingthesesteps:

pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(atranslucentplasticbottle).
Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebeginstorelease.
Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture,to
withinthe“COLDFILLRANGE”orthe“FULLCOLD”levelonthe
reservoir.Ifyouremovedtheradiatorcapinanoverflowsystem,fillthe
radiatoruntilthecoolantisvisibleandradiatorisalmostfull.

Replacethecap.Turnuntiltightlyinstalled.Capmustbetightly
installedtopreventcoolantloss.
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,checkthecoolantconcentration(refer
toCheckingenginecoolant).Iftheconcentrationisnot50/50
(protectionto–34°F/–36°C),drainsomecoolantandadjustthe
concentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0quart(1.0liter)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourauthorizeddealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.
