2010 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Mobility Van NCV3 Catalog

Safety from A to Z.
The bus is one the safest ways of travelling in the world,  and innovations by Mercedes-Benz have played a major part  in bringing that about.
Find out for yourself about the benefits  of the Mercedes-Benz integrated safety system. The Sprinter Mobility  makes it possible.
Safety that thinks of everything. Ever since Carl Benz in-
vented the omnibus Mercedes-Benz has pioneered further
developments in bus safety. Many of the innovations that
are standard features today first saw the light of day in
a vehicle bearing the Mercedes-Benz star. All the while
Mercedes-Benz has pursued the vision of accident-free
travel, and the Mercedes-Benz integrated safety system
represents a major step towards realising that dream. The
system rigorously implements concepts designed to cover
all aspects of automotive safety, from safety while under
way to safety in hazardous situations, protection in  the
event of accidents and minimising the consequences of
any accident.
The BAS braking assistant offers extra safety when brak-
ing hard. If the driver hits the brake pedal at more than
a certain speed the system interprets this as emergency
braking and automatically applies maximum braking
force within a fraction of a second, even if the driver has
not yet fully depressed the brake pedal. This reduces the
braking and stopping distances should the driver fail to
apply sufficient emergency braking pressure. Models with
manual transmission are also fitted with Start-Off Assist
(AAS), which facilitates pulling away safely and comforta-
bly on gradients steeper than 4%. AAS maintains braking
pressure for about two seconds after releasing the brake
pedal to allow your drivers to calmly switch from the brake
to accelerator pedal as they drive off.
Safe from the ground up. Many details make the Sprinter
Mobility one of the safest representatives of its class. For
example, the Sprinter passenger compartment provides
passengers and driver alike with better protection than
ever before. The passenger seats offer a high degree of lat-
eral support and are fitted with three-point seat belts. The
driver and co-driver seats are protected by front air bags,
while thorax and window airbags are available as special
equipment. The optimised braking system is fitted with
EBV electronic brake-force distribution, which ensures a
high level of driving safety by dividing the braking  force
between the front and rear axles according to the current
driving situation in order to generate the maximum brak-
ing effect. A further visible safety gain is provided by
the optional bi-xenon headlamps, which provide excellent
illumination of the road ahead and to one side even round
sharp bends thanks to their integral static turning and
cornering lights.
Electronic Guardian Angels. Its comprehensive safety
technology makes the Sprinter Mobility one of the safest
minibuses on the market, and the buses’ innovative elec-
tronic guardian angels play a major part here. As well as
ABS and ASR, the Sprinter Mobility is also fitted with such
features as ADAPTIVE ESP
®
, which boosts the vehicle’s
stability when cornering at speed or having to take sudden
evasive action. Unlike conventional electronic stability
systems ADAPTIVE ESP   takes the buses’ current load
®
into account when making adjustments.
