THE SAFETY FEATURES STANDARD oN EVERY SoNATA
REFLECT A FUNDAmENTAL HYUNDAI PRINCIPLE.
It’s our belief that a car’s core function is to inspire confidence. So we made sure Sonata comes standard with six airbags and active front head restraints
designed to help protect in the event of a collision. And technologies including Electronic Stability Control, ABS with Electronic Brake-force
Distribution and Brake Assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System and an available rear backup camera to help you avoid accidents in the first place.
HooD STRUCTURE
Sonata was designed with hood-buckling creases to
help protect you in an impact from any direction.
SIx AIRBAGS
Sonata comes standard with six airbags, including the
advanced front airbag system that automatically
determines if - and with what level of power - the
driver and/or passenger front airbags will inflate
based on occupant weight and height, as well as
impact speed.

ACTIVE FRoNT HEAD RESTRAINTS
BoDY BUILDING
Sonata’s active front head restraints are designed
to provide extra protection against whiplash in
rear-end collisions by moving up and forward to
help cushion the head.
Hyundai engineers built Sonata with a reinforced unibody constructed from
high-tensile steel to effectively absorb collision energy. They also engineered it
with rear crumple zones and bodystyle reinforcements.
FRoNT SEATBELT PRETENSIoNERS
CHILD SEAT ANCHoR
Front seatbelt pretensioners automatically “cinch
up” to reduce slack and optimally position the
occupant in case of airbag deployment. Force
limiters are also designed to “give” a little, to help
reduce peak belt loads to the occupant’s torso in
certain high-impact frontal collisions.
Correctly fastening a child safety
seat to the rear seat of Sonata is easy,
thanks to the expertly engineered
LATCH system.

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain frontal and/or sideimpact conditions where significant injury is likely. The
SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts, which should be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be restrained securely in the rear seat. nEVER place a rear-facing child seat in the front seat
