and more pe ople are suffe ring from asthma and allergies. To ensure a he althy interior for you and your
passenge rs, we test uphols teries and interiors in the Vo lvo En viro nme nta l La b o ra to ry in Swe de n.
All uphols tery mate rials and interior textiles also comply with Oe ko -Tex Standard 100 – an international
be nchma rk for huma n ecologica l safety of textiles. All le a the rs a re chro miu m -fre e – the y’re tanne d
using vege table or synthe tic subs tance s instead of chromium. What’s more , some pane l trims are Fo re s t
S te wa rd s hip Co uncil (F S C) ce rtifie d to ensure the wood come s from respons ibly manage d forests .

think that the re is just one way to tackle the environme nta l issue s. We think the re are many solutions and
we must explore all the options . That’s why we’re developing new eco-te chnologie s. DRIVe ca pture s a ll
our e nviro nme nta l wo rk – fro m pro ductio n to re cyclin g – and re pre s e nts our co mmitme nt and
co ntinue d e ffo rt s fo r sus tainable mobilit y.
Already from the early stage s of conce ption we’ve cons idered our ca rs’ environme nta l impact: from de sign
and manufacturing to useful life and recycling. For exa mple, we’ve seen to that our factorie s are powe red
by wind and hydro powe r and use ene rgy and wate r respons ibly. Our production facilities are ce rtified
unde r the glo ba l e nviro nme nta l s ta nda rd IS O 14 001 , and we make sure that all our major supplie rs
meet our strict environme nta l standa rds . At the end of its useful life, every Volvo is de signe d to be 85%
re cycla b le . We also offer re -m a nufa cture d e xcha nge pa rts which subs tantially reduce s the ne ed for
raw mate rials and ene rgy.
