whenthebrakesareapplied.Such
noisesareusuallyheardduringthe
firstfewbrakeapplicationsinthe
morning;however,theymaybe
heardatanytimewhilebraking
andcanbeaggravatedby
environmentalconditionssuchas
cold,heat,moisture,roaddust,salt
ormud.Ifa“metal-to-metal,”
“continuousgrinding”or
“continuoussqueal”soundis
presentwhilebraking,thebrake
liningsmaybeworn-outand
shouldbeinspectedbyaqualified
servicetechnician.

Onvehiclesequippedwithan
anti-lockbrakingsystem(ABS),a
noisefromthehydraulicpump
motorandpulsationinthepedal
maybeobservedduringABS
brakingevents.Pedalpulsation
coupledwithnoisewhilebraking
underpanicconditionsoronloose
gravel,bumps,wetorsnowyroads
isnormalandindicatesproper
functioningofthevehicle’s
anti-lockbrakesystem.Ifthe
