Safety from A to Z.
The bus is one the safest ways of travelling in the world, and innovations by Mercedes-Benz have played a major part in bringing that about. Find out for
yourself about the benefits of the Mercedes-Benz integrated safety system. The Sprinter Transfer makes it possible.
Safety that thinks of everything. Ever since Carl Benz
invented the omnibus Mercedes-Benz has pioneered fur-
ther developments in bus safety. Many of the innovations
which are standard features today first saw the light of
day in a vehicle bearing the Mercedes-Benz star. All the
while Mercedes-Benz has pursued the vision of accident-
free travel, and the Mercedes-Benz integrated safety sys-
tem represents a major step towards realising that dream.
The system rigorously implements concepts designed to
cover all aspects of automotive safety, from safety while
under way to safety in hazardous situations, protection in
the event of accidents and minimising the consequences
of any accident.
Electronic Guardian Angels. Its comprehensive safety
technology makes the Sprinter Transfer one of the safest
minibuses on the market, and the buses’ innovative elec-
tronic guardian angels play a major part here. As well
as ABS and ASR, the Sprinter Transfer is also fitted with
The BAS braking assistant offers extra safety when brak-
ing hard. If the driver hits the brake pedal at more than
a certain speed the system interprets this as emergency
braking and automatically applies maximum braking
force within a fraction of a second, even if the driver has
not yet fully depressed the brake pedal. This reduces the
braking and stopping distances should the driver fail to
apply sufficient emergency braking pressure. Models with
manual transmission are also fitted with Start-Off Assist
(AAS), which facilitates pulling away safely and comforta-
bly on gradients steeper than 4%. AAS maintains braking
pressure for about two seconds after releasing the brake
pedal to allow your drivers to calmly switch from the brake
to accelerator pedal as they drive off.
such features as ADAPTIVE ESP
®
, which boosts the vehi-
cle’s stability when cornering at speed or having to take
sudden evasive action. Unlike conventional electronic sta-
bility systems, ADAPTIVE ESP takes the buses’ current
®
load into account when making adjustments.
