vehicleisplacedinR(Reverse)(whenthemirrorison)toensurea
brightclearviewwhenbackingup.
Electroniccompass(ifequipped)
Thecompassreadingwillremainaccurateduringmostdriving
conditions.Unknowntothedriver,thecompassiscontinuously
recalibratingduetomagneticfieldsandsubtle,slowchangesinvehicle
magneticswhichcanoccuroverthelifeofthevehicle.
Thecompassreadingwillremainfixedwhensignificantchangesinthe
localmagneticfieldareexperienced(suchassteelbridges).The
compasswillreturntonormaloperationuponleavingthemagnetized
area.
Ifhighlymagnetizeditems(suchasmagneticmountantennas)are
placedverynearthecompassthedisplaywillchangeto“C”for15
seconds,thendisplayallsegmentsuntilthemagnetizeditemisremoved.
Ifa“C”isdisplayed,refertoCompasscalibrationadjustment.
Mostgeographicareas(zones)haveamagneticnorthcompasspointthat
variesslightlyfromthenortherlydirectiononmaps.Thisvariationisfour
degreesbetweenadjacentzonesandwillbecomenoticeableasthe
vehiclecrossesmultiplezones.Acorrectzonesettingwilleliminatethis
error.RefertoCompasszoneadjustment.
