Jump starting
̈ Connect the negative terminal 4 of the
charged battery with the under hood
terminal 3 in front of the discharged
battery with the jumper cable. Clamp
cable to charged battery 4 first.

Keep flames or sparks away from battery.
Do not smoke.
Observe all safety instructions and precau-
tions when handling automotive batteries

Start the engine of the disabled vehi-
cle.

Now you can again turn on the electrical
consumers. Do not turn on the lights under
any circumstances.
The battery is located in the engine com-
partment on the right hand side. For jump
starting use the terminals in front of the
battery.

Remove the jumper cables first from
the negative terminals 3 and 4 and
then from the positive terminals 1
and 2.

Make sure that the two vehicles do not
touch.

Have the battery checked at the near-
est authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

Turn off all electrical consumers.
Apply parking brake.
̈ Connect the positive terminal 1 of the
charged battery with the under hood
terminal 2 in front of the discharged
battery with the jumper cable. Clamp
cable to charged battery 1 first.

The vehicle cannot be started via
tow-start.
Shift selector lever to position P.

Let the engine of the assisting vehicle
run at idle speed.
