Never invert the terminal connections.
Warning!
Keep flames or sparks away from battery.
Do not smoke.

Start engine of the vehicle with the
charged battery and run at idle speed.
Observe all safety instructions and precau-
tions when handling automotive batteries
Connect negative terminals 2 and 4
of the batteries with the jumper cable.
Clamp cable to charged battery 4
first.

The battery is located on the right side of
the trunk under the battery cover

̈   Start the engine of the disabled vehi-

cle.
Now you can again turn on the electrical
consumers. Do not turn on the lights under
any circumstances.

Make sure the two vehicles do not
touch.

Turn off all electrical consumers.
Apply parking brake.

Remove the jumper cables first from
negative terminals 2 and 4 and then
from positive terminals 1 and 3.

Shift gear selector lever to position P.
Open the trunk lid.
You can now turn on the lights.

Connect positive terminals 1 and 3
of the batteries with the jumper cable.
Clamp cable to charged battery 3
first.
Remove battery cover (page 408).
̈   Have the battery checked at the near-
est authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
Remove red cover from positive
terminal 1.
