Optical Parking System
Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG)
The Optical Parking System expands the parking aid/parking
sensor concepts to a new level. A silhouette of the Passat CC
is displayed on the radio or navigation system screen during
parking. The display shows the Passat CC’s position and
distance from obstacles. Any obstacle within range of the
ultrasonic sensors is shown in colour. This feature is
standard for all Passat CC models, available with RCD510
radio system and RNS510 optional satellite navigation.
DSG is an advanced 6-speed gearbox in which the clutch and
gearshift are controlled electronically. What makes DSG
unique is that the next gear is already pre-selected and
awaiting power to be transferred, resulting in a gear change
that takes only 3-4 hundredths of a second. The benefit is
virtually no interruption to power, traction or acceleration
and because it ensures optimum transmission of engine
power, DSG provides excellent fuel consumption and
driving satisfaction.
