Wait until the ball head reaches the end po‐
sition and the LED in the button lights up in
green.
The system is not operational if DSC, refer
to page 100, is deactivated or has failed.
Checking the lock
Before driving with a trailer or load carrier,
check that the ball head is properly locked; oth‐
erwise, there is the risk of instable driving situa‐
tions and accidents.

General information
Retracting the ball head
The extendable ball head is located on the un‐
derside of the vehicle.
1.
Unhitch the trailer or load carrier; remove the
attachments for the track stabilization sys‐
tems; unplug the connector for the trailer
power supply; and, if applicable, the adapter.
Follow the operating instructions of the system
manufacturer.
When the ignition is switched off, the system is
deactivated after no later than 2 minutes.
The LED in the button flashes green if the
connector or adapter has not been unplug‐
ged.
To reactivate the system:

Close the tailgate and open it again.
Switch on the ignition.

Press the button in the trunk.
The ball head retracts. The LED in the but‐
ton flashes red.
To stop the movement of the ball head:
press the button again.
Wait until the ball head reaches the end po‐
sition and the LED in the button lights up in
green.

The button for extending/retracting the ball
head is located behind the right side trim in the
trunk.
Press the button in the trunk.
Pressing the button again causes the ball head
to move in the opposite direction, up to the end
position.

Automatic interruption of the ball head
movement
The ball head movement is stopped automati‐
cally if the electrical limit values are exceeded,
e.g., at very low temperatures or due to mechan‐
ical resistance.

Press the button in the trunk.
The ball head extends. The LED in the but‐
ton flashes red.
To stop the movement of the ball head:
press the button again.
The LED in the button flashes red.
