Donot operate a mobile phonethat isconnected
to the vehicle on the mobile phone keypad, as
this may lead to a malfunction.
The concept
After the mobile phone is paired once with the
vehicle, the mobile phone can be operated using
the iDrive, the steering wheel buttons and spo‐
ken instructions.
Pairing/unpairing the mobile
phone
A paired mobile phone is automatically detected
as soon as it is located inside the vehicle, when
the ignition is switched on.

The mobile phone is suitable.
Up to four mobile phones can be paired.
Using the mobile phone while driving
The mobile phone is ready for operation.
Bluetooth is activated in the vehicle, refer to
page 203, and on the mobile phone.
Make entries only when traffic and road
conditions allow. Do not hold the mobile phone
in your hand while you are driving; use the
hands-free system instead. If you do not ob‐
serve this precaution, you can endanger the ve‐
hicle occupants and other road users.◀

Bluetooth presettings may need to be made
on the mobile phone, e.g., for a connection
without confirmation or visibility, refer to the
mobile phone operating instructions.

A number with at least four and a maximum
of 16 digits is defined as the Bluetooth pass‐
key. It is only required once for pairing.
Snap-in adapter*
The snap-in adapter is used to:

Pairing and connecting
Pairing the mobile phone
Connect the mobile phone to an outside an‐
tenna of the vehicle.
To avoid becoming distracted and posing
an unnecessary hazard both to your own vehi‐
cle's occupants and to other road users, only
pair the mobile phone while the vehicle is sta‐
tionary.◀
This provides for better network reception
and consistent sound quality.
Approved mobile phones
Pair the vehicle entirely on the front or rear Con‐
trol Display.
Inquire with your service center which mobile
phones containing a Bluetooth interface are
supported by the mobile phone preparation
package. Additional information can be found at
www.bmw.com/bluetooth.
