Never use spray fluids to start the combustion

Start the engine of the assisting vehicle and
let it run for several minutes at an increased
idle speed.
Start the engine of the vehicle receiving as‐
sistance as usual.
If the first starting attempt is not successful,
wait a few minutes before making another
attempt in order to allow the discharged bat‐
tery to recharge.
The screw-in tow fitting should always be car‐
ried in the vehicle. It can be screwed in at the
front or rear of the BMW. It is located in the con‐
tainer on the inside of the trunk lid.

Let both engines run for several minutes.
Disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse
order.
Check the battery and recharge if necessary.

Use only the tow fitting provided with
the vehicle and screw it all the way in.

Use the tow fitting for towing on paved roads
only.
Never use spray fluids to start the combustion
engine.
Avoid lateral loading of the tow fitting, e.g.,
do not lift the vehicle by the tow fitting.

Start the engine of the assisting vehicle and

Otherwise, damage to the tow fitting and the ve‐
hicle can occur.◀
Press the Start/Stop button without apply‐
ing the brake. This starts the charging pro‐
cedure.
Screw thread
The charging procedure is complete as
soon as a corresponding message is dis‐
played in the instrument panel.

Start the combustion engine of the vehicle
receiving assistance.
Disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse
order.
Have the high-voltage battery checked if nec‐
essary.
Push out the cover by pressing on the arrow
symbol.
Charging procedure interrupted
The charging procedure of the high-voltage bat‐
tery could be interrupted during engine start,
for instance because the vehicle providing as‐
sistance has not enough battery power:
