2. Block the Wheel

3. Loosen Wheel Nuts

Obtain Spare Tire and Tool
Flat tire
Spare tire

The wheel  nuts should  be loosened
slightlybeforeraisingthecar.Toloosen
the nuts, turn the wrench handle coun-
terclockwise.Whendoingthis,besure
that the  socket is  seated completely
over the nut  so it cannot slip  off. For
maximumleverage,positionthewrench
sothehandleistotherightasshownin
the drawing.  Then, while holding the
wrenchneartheendofthehandle,push
downonitwithsteadypressure.   Donot
remove  the  nuts  at  this  time.  Just
loosen them about one-half turn.
Removethesparetireandtakeoutthe
jack and tool bag from the trunk.
Blockthewheelthatisdiagonallyoppo-
site from  the flat to  keep the vehicle
from rolling when the vehicle is raised
on the jack.
NOTE:
The jack is located beneath the lug-
gage mat in the vehicle trunk.
