Agility and comfort whatever the situation or surface: the standard Direct Control suspension and optional AirMATIC system are designed to please
drivers and passengers alike.
Direct Control (standard). The Direct Control
suspension gives the E-Class a perfect blend of
agility and ride comfort. Its Adaptive Damping
System automatically adjusts the damper set-
tings to suit the situation, and the optimised
shock absorption and excellent stability make
light work of poor surfaces. On the Avantgarde
and Sport, the Direct Control suspension is low-
ered by 15mm for an even more dynamic feel.
Direct Steering (standard on V6/V8 Avantgarde
models and all Sport models). A modified
steering ratio reduces the amount of lock
required for tighter turns, such as when parking
or in sharp bends. This not only makes the
driving experience more effortless, but more
entertaining too.
AirMATIC adaptive damping system (standard
on E500, optional on V6 models) can adjust to
suit the driving style, situation and load level.
AirMATIC lets you choose between comfort and
sport settings and can switch to a firmer set-up
automatically if necessary. It comes with a self-
levelling function that maintains a constant ride
height even when the car is fully laden, and also
allows you to alter the ride height manually.
For optimum agility and comfort, the Direct Control suspension
automatically alters the damper settings to suit the situation
Direct Steering reduces the amount of lock required to turn the
wheels, giving you a sportier feel when cornering
AIRMATIC air suspension helps to maintain a constant ground
clearance, even if the car is carrying a heavy load
