Unlimited headroom in an instant: the SLK’s
electrically operated vario-roof opens at the
touch of a button and disappears into the
boot in just 22 seconds. There’s still plenty of
space for your luggage though – 208 litres
in open-top mode (with optional Tirefit), or
300
litres with the roof in place.
When closed, the vario-roof offers the kind
of noise insulation and feeling of safety you
otherwise only get from a conventional hard-
top. And even with the roof down, you can
still enjoy a truly cosseted feel, thanks to a
choice of two draught-stop options and the
optional Airscarf neck-level heating.
Unique to Mercedes-Benz roadsters, the
Airscarf sends warm air to the head and neck
area via vents in the head restraints, meaning
you can enjoy open-top motoring whatever
the season.
