The SLK transmissions
Carefully matched to the characteristics of each
engine, the SLK transmissions ensure power
is transferred to the wheels as quickly and effi-
ciently as possible. The SLK200 KOMPRESSOR
comes with a choice of standard 6-speed manual
or optional 5-speed automatic transmission,
while 7G-Tronic Sport 7-speed automatic trans-
mission with steer
offered as an option for V6 models.
The 7G-Tronic transmission has the right gear for every situation.
Its seven forward ratios mean smaller jumps in engine speed
when changing gear, resulting in smoother shifts and lower  
average rpm. In addition, it can change down several gears at  
a time when particularly rapid acceleration is required
with the 5-speed transmission and are standard
with the AMG 7G-Tr
fitted to the SLK55AMG.
