SEATBELTSAFETY
WARNING
Seat belts are  life saving equipment.
In a collision, unrestrained passengers can be
thrown around inside the vehicle, or possibly
thrown out of the vehicle, resulting in injuryto
themselves and to other occupants. DONOT
take chances with safety!
Each belt assembly must only be used by
one occupant; it is dangerous to put a belt
around a child being carried on the
occupant’s lap.
DOmake sure ALLpassengers  are
securelystrapped in at all times - even for
the shortest journeys.
NOTE: Pregnant women should ask a doctor
for advice about the safest way to wear seat
belts.
ALWAYS adjust seat belts so that the
diagonalbelt passes  across the shoulder
without slipping off or pressing on the
neck.
WARNING
Seat belts are  designed to bear upon the
bony structure of the body, and should be
worn low across the front of the pelvis, or
the pelvis, chest and shoulders,  as
applicable; wearing the lap section  of the
belt across the abdominal  area must be
avoided.
DOhave seat belts checked if the vehicle
has been involved in an accident.
DONOTdrive  the vehicle if the seat backs
are reclined more than 15 degrees. Seat
belts are only effective when they are
properlypositioned on the body.
Seat belts should be adjusted  as firmly as
possible,  consistent with comfort, to provide
the protection for which they have been
designed.  Aslack belt will greatly reduce
the protection afforded to the wearer.
Care should be taken to avoid
contamination of the webbing with
polishes, oils and chemicals, and
particularlybatteryacid.  Cleaning may
safelybe carried out using mild soap and
water. The belt should be replaced if
webbing becomes frayed, contaminated or
damaged.
It is essential  to replace the entire assembly
after it has been worn in a severe impact,
even if damage to the assembly is not
obvious.
DONOTallow foreign matter (particularly
sugary food and drink particles) to enter
the seat belt locks - such substances can
render the locks inoperative.
Belts should not be worn with straps
twisted.
