Routethejumpercablesawayfrompartsthatwillbemoving:
Connectingajumpercablenearortomovingparts(coolingfans,belts)isdangerous.
Thecablecouldgetcaughtwhentheenginestartsandcauseseriousinjury.
CAUTION
Useonlya12Vboostersystem.Youcandamagea12Vstarter,ignitionsystem,and
otherelectricalpartsbeyondrepairwitha24Vpowersupply(two12Vbatteriesin
seriesora24Vmotorgeneratorset).

Makesuretheboosterbatteryis12V
andthatitsnegativeterminalis
grounded.
Connecttheotherendtoasolid,
stationary,exposedmetallicpoint
(forexample,thestrutmounting
bolt)awayfromthedischarged
battery(4).

Iftheboosterbatteryisinanother
vehicle,don'tallowthevehiclesto
touch.Turnofftheengineofthe
vehiclewiththeboosterbatteryandall
unnecessaryelectricalloadsinboth
vehicles.

sequenceasintheillustration.
Connectoneendofacabletothe
positiveterminalonthedischarged
battery(1).
Connect cables in
numerical order and
disconnect in reverse
order.

andrunitafewminutes.Thenstartthe
engineoftheothervehicle.
Connectoneendoftheothercable
tothenegativeterminalofthe
boosterbattery(3).
