Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrownout
ofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesamecollision,
occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebeltwebbing
oftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequateprotectionina
collision.Thefrontairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersdeploysimultaneously
regardlessofwhetherthedriverorafrontseatpassengerisseatedduringacollision.
Therefore,bothfrontseatbeltsmustbeinspectedafteracollisionandreplacedif
necessary.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbeltsystemsinuse
duringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveruseoneseatbeltonmorethanonepersonatatime:
Usingoneseatbeltformorethanonepersonatatimeisdangerous.Aseatbeltused
inthiswaycannotspreadtheimpactforcesproperlyandthetwopassengerscouldbe
crushedtogetherandseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Neveruseonebeltformore
thanonepersonatatimeandalwaysoperatethevehiclewitheachoccupantproperly
restrained.
CAUTION
Beltretractionmaybecomedifficultifthebeltsandringsaresoiled,sotrytokeepthem
clean.Formoredetailsaboutcleaningtheseatbelts,referto“CleaningtheLap/Shoulder
BeltWebbing”(page8-59).
