indicatethatthevehicleisnotreadyforI/Mtesting.Todetermineifthe
vehicleisreadyforI/Mtesting,turntheignitionkeytotheONposition
for15secondswithoutcrankingtheengine.Ifthe
eighttimes,itmeansthatthevehicleisnotreadyforI/Mtesting;if
indicatorstaysonsolid,itmeansthatthevehicleisreadyfor
indicatorblinks
the
I/Mtesting.
TheOBD-IIsystemisdesignedtochecktheemissioncontrolsystem
duringnormaldriving.Acompletecheckmaytakeseveraldays.Ifthe
vehicleisnotreadyforI/Mtesting,thefollowingdrivingcycleconsisting
ofmixedcityandhighwaydrivingmaybeperformed:

minutesofsteadydrivingonanexpressway/highwayfollowedby20
minutesofstop-and-godrivingwithatleastfour30secondidleperiods.
Allowthevehicletositforatleasteighthourswithoutstartingthe
engine.Then,starttheengineandcompletetheabovedrivingcycle.The
enginemustwarmuptoitsnormaloperatingtemperature.Oncestarted,
donotturnofftheengineuntiltheabovedrivingcycleiscomplete.If
thevehicleisstillnotreadyforI/Mtesting,theabovedrivingcyclewill
havetoberepeated.
