Engines with the power to move you
The common-rail C-Class diesel engines
The C-Class offers a choice of four diesels, all with
common-rail injection technology. The top performer is
the C350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. This 6-cylinder produces
(125 kW), while attaining 58.9 mpg in the combined
cycle, and just 127 g/km of CO2 emissions. Similarly,
the new C 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY SE manual has
an output of 204 hp (150 kW) and manages 55.4 mpg
combined and 134g/km. Both BlueEFFICIENCY engines
achieve the stringent EU5 emissions standard. Our C 200
CDI BlueEFFICIENCY manual has an output of 136hp
(100kW) and 56.5mpg in the combined cycle.
231hp
(170kW) and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 6.4
seconds (or 6.5 seconds in Estate guise).
The 4-cylinder engines have benefited from a range of
technical refinements, including larger oil jets to improve
piston cooling and the introduction of ceramic glow
plugs, which reach higher temperatures than their metal
counterparts and hence improve cold starting.
Without compromising on power, the twin turbocharger
C220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY SE manual delivers 170hp
BlueEFFICIENCY models, engineered to reduce
fuel consumption and for lower CO2 emissions
