Deactivating/activating ESP®
G Warning!
X To activate: pressa again.
Theå warning lamp in the instrument
cluster goes out.
Never switch off the ESP when you see the
ESP warning lampä flashing in the
instrument cluster. In this case proceed as
follows:
Activating/deactivating PRE-SAFE®
Brake
This function is only available with
DISTRONIC PLUS.
RWhen driving off, apply as little throttle as
possible.
X Press the= or; button on the
steering wheel to select theDriveAssist
menu.
X Press9 or: to selectPRE-SAFE
Brake.
RWhile driving, ease up on the accelerator
pedal.
RAdapt your speed and driving style to the
prevailing road conditions.
Failure to observe these guidelines could
cause the vehicle to skid. The ESP cannot
prevent accidents resulting from excessive
speed.
X Pressa.
The current selection is displayed.
X To activate/deactivate: pressa
again.

This function is not available in AMG vehicles.
When PRE-SAFE® Brake (Y page 71) is
activated, the multifunction display shows
theÄ symbol.
X Start the engine.
X Press the= or; button on the
steering wheel to select theDriveAssist Activating/deactivating ATTENTION
menu.
X Press9 or: to selectESP.
X Pressa.
X To deactivate: pressa again.
Theå warning lamp in the instrument
cluster comes on.
ASSIST
X Press the= or; button on the
steering wheel to select theDriveAssist
menu.
X Press the9 or: button to select
Attention Asst.
G Warning
When theå ESP OFF warning lamp lights
up, ESP is switched off.
X Pressa.
The current selection is displayed.
X To activate/deactivate: pressa
again.
When theä ESP warning lamp and the
å ESP OFF warning lamp are on
continuously, ESP is not operational due to a
malfunction.
When ATTENTION ASSIST (Y page 201) is
activated, theÀ symbol appears in the
multifunction display when the ignition is on.
When ESP is switched off or not operational,
the vehicle's stability during standard driving
maneuvers is reduced.
Activating/deactivating Blind Spot
Assist
Adapt your driving style to suit the prevailing
road conditions/weather conditions and to
the non-operating status of ESP.
You can use theBlind Spot Asst. function
to activate or deactivate Blind Spot Assist
(Y page 205) or Active Blind Spot Assist
(
Y page 209).
