Anti-lock system (ABS) cannot preven t the natu -
ral law s of physics from actin g on the veh icle, nor
can it increase brak ing or steerin g efficien cy be-
yon d that afford ed by the condition of the veh icle
brak es and tires or the traction afford ed.
If the ABS light rem ains on or comes on while driving, it
ind icates that the Anti-Lock portion of the brake system
is not functioning and that service is requ ired . However,
the conventional brake system will continu e to operate
norm ally if the BRAKE warning light is not on.
The ABS cannot preven t accid ents, including
those resu ltin g from excessive speed in turns,
follow ing anoth er veh icle too closely, or hydro-
plan ing. Only a safe, atten tive, and skillfu l driver
can preven t accid ents.

If the ABS light is on, the brake system shou ld be serviced
as soon as possible to restore the benefits of Anti-Lock
brakes. If the ABS light does not come on when the
Ignition switch is turned to the ON position, have the
bulb rep aired as soon as possible.
The capabilities of an ABS equipped veh icle must
never be exploited in a reck less or dangerou s
manner which could jeop ard ize the user’s safety
or the safety of oth ers.
If both the Brake Warning Light and the ABS Light
rem ain on, the Anti-Lock brakes (ABS) and Electronic
Brake Force Distribu tion (EBD) system s are not function-
