enteringthevehicle,drivewithallwin-
dowsfullyopen,andhavethevehiclein-
spectedimmediately.

Ifaspecialbody,camper,orotherequip-
mentisadded forrecreational orother
usage,followthemanufacturer’srecom-
mendation topreventcarbonmonoxide
entry into the vehicle. (Some recre-
ational vehicle appliances such as
stoves, refrigerators, heaters, etc. may
alsogeneratecarbonmonoxide.)

Donotruntheengineinclosedspaces
suchasagarage.
Donotparkthevehiclewiththeengine
runningforanyextendedlengthoftime.

Closelysupervisechildrenwhentheyare
around cars to prevent them from
playing and becoming locked in the
trunkwheretheycouldbeseriously in-
jured.Keepthecarlocked,withtherear
seatbackandtrunklidsecurelylatched
whennotinuse,andpreventchildren’s
accesstocarkeys.
Theexhaustsystemandbodyshouldbe
inspectedbyaqualifiedmechanicwhen-
ever:
Keepthetrunklidclosedwhiledriving,
otherwiseexhaustgasescouldbedrawn
intothepassengercompartment.Ifyou
mustdrivewiththetrunklidopen,follow
