Unfastening the seat belts
To unfasten the belt, push the button on
the buckle. The seat belt will automati-
cally retract.
The automatic locking mode should be
used only for child restraint installation.
During normal seat belt use by a pas-
senger, thelocking modeshould notbeac-
tivated. If it is activated it may cause un-
comfortable seat belt tension. It can also
change the operation of the front pas-
senger air bag. See “Front passenger air
bagandstatus light” laterinthissection.
Checking seat belt operation
Your seat belt retractors are designed to
lock belt movement using two separate
methods:
ț when the belt is pulled quickly from
the retractor.
ț when the vehicle slows down rapidly.
