Starting
Starting difficulties

Make sure the gear selector lever is set
to P.
If the engine does not start as described,
carry out the following steps:

Do not depress the accelerator.
̈ Turn the key in steering lock to
position 0 and repeat starting proce-
dure.
Turn the key in the steering lock to
position 3. Release when the engine is
firing regularly (୴ page 29).
Remember that extended starting at-
tempts can drain the battery

Depress the brake pedal.
̈
Get a jump start (୴ page 254).
The selector lever lock is released.
Gearshift pattern for automatic
transmission
If the engine does not start after several
starting attempts, there could be a mal-
function in the engine electronics or in the
fuel supply system.

R Reverse gear
N Neutral
