Rear passenger's seat belt warning
(if equipped)
The rear passenger seat belt warning
lights will illuminate when the ignition is
turned ON regardless of which, if any,
rear seats are occupied. As each belt is
fastened, the indicator colour changes
from red (unfastened) to green (fas-
tened). The lights will extinguish within
35
seconds of the vehicle speed reach-
ing 6mph (9km/h).

You can adjust the height of the shoulder
belt anchor to one of 4 positions for max-
imum comfort and safety.
Lap/shoulder belt
To fasten your seat belt:
If a seat belt is unfastened whilst the car
is in motion, the seat belt warning lights
will be illuminated and will display the
status of each belt (red - unfastened,
green - fastened). The location of the
belt unfastened after the vehicle has
been set in motion will be indicated by a
red flashing indicator and a warning
chime will sound.
To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the
retractor and insert the metal tab (1) into
the buckle (2). There will be an audible
"click" when the tab locks into the buckle.
If the height of the adjusting seat belt is
too near your neck, you will not be getting
the most effective protection. The shoul-
der portion should be adjusted so that it
lies across your chest and midway over
your shoulder nearest the door and not
your neck.
The seat belt automatically adjusts to the
proper length only after the lap belt por-
tion is adjusted manually so that it fits
snugly around your hips. If you lean for-
ward in a slow, easy motion, the belt will
extend and let you move around. If there
is a sudden stop or impact, however, the
belt will lock into position. It will also lock
if you try to lean forward too quickly.
To adjust the height of the seat belt
anchor, lower or raise the height adjuster
into an appropriate position.
If a rear seat belt is fastened and unfas-
tened twice within 9 seconds, the rear
seat belt indicator system will be turned
off and will not function again until the
ignition switch has been turned OFF.
