Rotateunidirectionaltiresandradialtiresthathaveanasymmetricaltreadpattern
orstudsonlyfromfronttorear,notfromsidetoside.Tireperformancewillbe
weakenedifrotatedfromsidetoside.
(Withlimited-slipdifferential)
Don'tusethefollowing:
ØTiresnotofthedesignatedsize
ØTiresofdifferentsizesortypesatthesametime
ØTiresnotsufficientlyinflated
Iftheseinstructionsaren'tfollowed,therotationoftheleftandrightwheelswillbe
differentandwillthusapplyaconstantloadonthelimited-slipdifferential.
Thiswillcauseamalfunction.
qReplacingaTire
WARNING
Alwaysusetiresthatareingoodcondition:
Drivingwithworntiresisdangerous.Reducedbraking,steering,andtractioncould
resultinanaccident.
Ifatirewearsevenly,awearindicatorwillappearasasolidbandacrossthetread.Replace
thetirewhenthishappens.
Tread wear indicator
New tread
Worn tread
Youshouldreplaceitbeforethebandisacrosstheentiretread.
NOTE
Tiresdegradeovertime,evenwhentheyarenotbeingusedontheroad.Itisrecommendedthattires
generallybereplacedwhentheyare6yearsorolder.Heatcausedbyhotclimatesorfrequenthigh
loadingconditionscanacceleratetheagingprocess.Youshouldreplacethesparetirewhenyou
replacetheotherroadtiresduetotheagingofthesparetire.Regardingthemanufacturingweekand
yearisindicatedwith4digit.RefertoThetirelabelingonpage9-22.
