ØWhenthewiperleverisinthe
AUTOpositionandtheignition
switchisintheONposition,the
wipersmaymoveautomaticallyin
thefollowingcases:
Ø Ifthewindshieldabovetherain
sensoristouched.
Ø Ifthewindshieldabovetherain
sensoriswipedwithacloth.
Ø Ifthewindshieldisstruckwith
ahandorotherobject.
Ø Iftherainsensorisstruckwith
ahandorotherobjectfrom
insidethevehicle.
Keephandsandscrapersclearof
thewindshieldwhentheignition
switchisintheONpositionas
fingerspinchedorthewipersand
wiperbladesdamagedwhenthey
activateautomatically.Ifyouare
goingtocleanthewindshield,be
surethewipersareturnedoff
completely-thisisparticularly
importantwhenclearingiceand
snow-whenitisparticularly
temptingtoleavetheengine
running.
NOTE
Switchingtheauto-wiperleverfromthe
OFFtotheAUTOpositionwhiledrivingat
avehiclespeedof4km/h(2mph)orhigher
(orafterdrivingthevehicle)activatesthe
windshieldwipersonce,afterwhichthey
operateaccordingtotherainfallamount.
Theauto-wipercontrolmaynotoperate
whentherainsensortemperatureisabout

10°C(14°F)orlower,orabout85°C
(185°F)orhigher.
Ifthewindshieldiscoatedwithwater
repellent,therainsensormaynotbeableto
sensetheamountofrainfallcorrectlyand
auto-wipercontrolmaynotoperate
properly.
Ifdirtorforeignmatter(e.g.iceormatter
containingsaltwater)adherestothe
windshieldabovetherainsensororifthe
windshieldisiced,itcouldcausethewipers
tomoveautomatically.However,ifthe
wiperscannotremovethisice,dirtor
foreignmatter,theauto-wipercontrolwill
stopoperation.Inthiscase,pullthewiper
levertothe1or2positionformanual
operation,orremovetheice,dirtorforeign
matterbyhandtorestoretheauto-wiper
operation.
