Thequalityofdieselfuel(Derv)canvaryin
differentcountriesandonlyclean,good
qualityfuelshouldbeused.Itisimportant
thatthesulphurcontentofdieselfueldoes
notexceed0.3%.InEuropeallsupplies
shouldbewithinthislimit,butinotherparts
oftheworldyoushouldcheckwithyour
supplier.Ensurethatthefuelfilterelementis
changedattherecommendedservice
intervals.
WARNING
Onpetrolenginemodelsfittedwitha
catalyticconverter,seriousdamagetothe
catalystwilloccurifleadedfuelisused!
USEONLYRECOMMENDEDFUEL
TheRONvalue(octanerating)ofpetroleum
commonlyavailableatgarageforecourtswill
varyindifferentcountries.TheRONvalues
quotedin’Generaldata’areMINIMUM
requirementsand,whiletheycanbesafely
exceeded,noadvantageisgained(eitherin
fueleconomyorperformance)byusinga
higheroctanefuel.
WARNING
Onbothpetrolanddieselenginevehicles,if
thefueltankisaccidentallyfilledwiththe
wrongfuel,itisESSENTIALthatyoucontact
yourLandRoverdealerBEFOREattempting
tostarttheengine.
Usingpetrolwithaloweroctanerating,
however,cancausepersistent,heavy’engine
knock’(ametallicrappingnoise).Ifsevere,
thiscanleadtoenginedamage.
Ifheavyengineknockingisdetectedwhen
usingtherecommendedoctaneratedfuel,or
ifsteadyengineknockingispresentwhile
maintainingasteadyroadspeedonlevel
roads,contactyourLandRoverdealerfor
advice.
NOTE:Anoccasional,light,engineknock
whileacceleratingorclimbinghillsis
acceptable.

Thefuelfillerswitchmayonlybeoperated
withthestarterkeyturnedtoposition’0’;it
willnotoperatewhentheengineisrunning.
