Fuel Filter
Forfuelfilterreplacement,seeyourdealeroraqualifiedservice
technician.Refertothescheduledmaintenanceguidefortheappropriate
intervalsforchangingthefuelfilter.
ReplacethefuelfilterwithanauthorizedMotorcraftpart.The
customerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothefuelsystem
ifanauthorizedMotorcraftfuelfilterisnotused.

Measuring techniques
Yourbestsourceofinformationaboutactualfueleconomyisyou,the
driver.Youmustgatherinformationasaccuratelyandconsistentlyas
possible.Fuelexpense,frequencyoffill-upsorfuelgaugereadingsare
NOTaccurateasameasureoffueleconomy.Wedonotrecommend
takingfueleconomymeasurementsduringthefirst1,600km(1,000
miles)ofdriving(enginebreak-inperiod).Youwillgetamoreaccurate
measurementafter3,000km–5,000km(2,000miles-3,000miles).
Filling the tank
Theadvertisedfuelcapacityofthefueltankonyourvehicleisequalto
theratedrefillcapacityofthefueltankaslistedintheRefillcapacities
sectionofthischapter.
Theadvertisedcapacityistheamountoftheindicatedcapacityandthe
emptyreservecombined.Indicatedcapacityisthedifferenceinthe
amountoffuelinafulltankandatankwhenthefuelgaugeindicates
empty.Emptyreserveisthesmallamountoffuelremaininginthefuel
tankafterthefuelgaugeindicatesempty.
Theamountofusablefuelintheemptyreservevariesandshould
notbereliedupontoincreasedrivingrange.Whenrefuelingyour
