Iftheelectronicbrakeforcedistribution
controlunitdeterminesthatsome
componentsareoperatingincorrectly,the
controlunitmayturnthebrakesystem
warninglighton.
Thiswarninghasthefollowingfunctions:
Inthiscase,theABSwarninglightcomes
onatthesametime(page5-41).
Parkingbrakewarning
Thelightcomesonwhentheparking
brakeisappliedwiththeignitionswitch
intheSTARTorONposition.Itgoesoff
whentheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased.

BrakeWarningLight:
Lowbrakefluidlevelwarning/
Electronicbrakeforcedistribution
systemwarning
Drivingwiththebrakesystemwarning
lightonisdangerous.Itindicatesthat
yourbrakesmaynotworkatallor
thattheycouldcompletelyfailatany
time.Ifthislightremainson,after
checkingthattheparkingbrakeis
fullyreleased,havethebrakes
inspectedimmediately.Don'tdrive
withthislighton,andcontactan
AuthorizedMazdaDealertohavethe
brakesinspectedassoonaspossible.
Ifthelightstaysonaftertheparkingbrake
isfullyreleased,youmayhaveabrake
problem.
Drivetothesideoftheroadandparkoff
theright-of-way.
Lowbrakefluidlevelwarning
Youmaynoticethatthepedalisharderto
pushorthatitmaygoclosertothefloor.
Ineithercase,itwilltakelongertostop
thevehicle.
ABSWarningLightandBrake
WarningLightonattheSameTime:
Drivingwhenthebrakesystem
warninglightandABSwarninglight
areonatthesametimeisdangerous.
Whenbothlightsareon,therear
wheelscouldlockmorequicklyinan
emergencystopthanundernormal
circumstances.

Withtheenginestopped,checkthe
brakefluidlevelimmediatelyandadd
fluidasrequired(page8-18).
2.
Afteraddingfluid,checkthelight
again.
Don'tdrivewithbothlightson,and
contactanAuthorizedMazdaDealer
tohavethebrakesinspectedassoon
aspossible.
Ifthewarninglightremainson,orifthe
brakesdonotoperateproperly,donot
drivethevehicle.Haveittowedtoan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.
