RemovingtheCoolingSystemCap:
Removingthecoolingsystemcap
whiletheengineisrunningorhotis
dangerous.Thismightleadtocooling
systemandenginedamageandcould
resultinseriousinjuryfromescaping
hotcoolantorsteam.Turnoffthe
engineandwaituntilit'scool.Even
then,beverycarefulwhenremoving
thecap.Wrapathickclotharoundthe
capandslowlyturnit
counterclockwisetothefirststop.
Stepbackwhilethepressureescapes.
Whenyou'resureallthepressureis
gone,pressdownonthecap―still
usingacloth―turnthecap,and
removeit.

Drainthesystemcompletelyand
retightentheplug.Addasmuch
ethylene-glycol-basedcoolantmixture
andwaterasnecessarytoprovide
freezingandcorrosionprotection.

Inextremelycoldclimates,addthe
mixturepercentagerecommendedin
thecoolantmixturepercentagetable.
Reinstallthecoolingsystemcap.
7. Runtheengineatidleforabout10
minutes,thenturnitoff.Ifthecoolant
levelwarninglightcomesonduring
thistime,turntheengineoff.
Afterturningofftheengine,inspectthe
drainplugandthewaterhosesfor
leaks.

Removethecoolingsystemcap.
8. Aftertheenginehascooled,remove
thecoolingsystemcapandinspectthe
coolantlevel.Ifit'slow,repeatsteps5
to7.
2.
Onlywhentheengineiscool,loosen
theradiatordrainpluganddrainthe
coolantintoasuitablecontainer.
Properlydisposeoftheusedcoolant.
