Shouldyoustarttoslidewhiledrivingonsnowyoricyroads,turnthe

Avoidsuddenapplicationsofpowerandquickchangesofdirectionon
snowandice.Applytheacceleratorslowlyandsteadilywhenstarting
fromafullstop.
Avoidsuddenbrakingaswell.AlthoughanAWDvehiclemayaccelerate
betterthanatwo-wheeldrivevehicleinsnowandice,itwon’tstopany
faster,becauseasinothervehicles,brakingoccursatallfourwheels.Do
notbecomeoverconfidentastoroadconditions.
Makesureyouallowsufficientdistancebetweenyouandothervehicles
forstopping.Driveslowerthanusualandconsiderusingoneofthelower
gears.Inemergencystoppingsituations,applythebrakesteadily.Since
yourvehicleisequippedwithafourwheelanti-lockbrakesystem(ABS),
donot“pump”thebrakes.RefertotheBrakessectionofthischapter
