listedinscheduledmaintenanceinformation.
Whenchangingtheoilfilteronthe2.3Lengine,youmustalsoreplace
thefiltercapO-ring.TheoilfilterdrainplugO-ringmustalsobe
replacedwhenevertheoilfilterdrainplugisremoved.Reuseofthe
O-ringsmaycauseengineoilleakageandmayresultinsevereengine
damage.Thecustomerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothe
engineiftheO-ringsarenotreplaced.
FordproductionandMotorcraftreplacementoilfiltersaredesignedfor
addedengineprotectionandlonglife.Ifareplacementoilfilterisused
thatdoesnotmeetFordmaterialanddesignspecifications,start-up
enginenoisesorknockmaybeexperienced.
ItisrecommendedyouusetheappropriateMotorcraftoilfilteror
anotherwithequivalentperformanceforyourengineapplication.
BATTERY
Yourvehicleisequippedwitha
Motorcraftmaintenance-freebattery
whichnormallydoesnotrequire
additionalwaterduringitslifeof
service.
Ifyourbatteryhasacover/shield,makesureitisreinstalled
afterthebatteryhasbeencleanedorreplaced.
Forlonger,trouble-freeoperation,keepthetopofthebatterycleanand
dry.Also,makecertainthebatterycablesarealwaystightlyfastenedto
thebatteryterminals.
Ifyouseeanycorrosiononthebatteryorterminals,removethecables
fromtheterminalsandcleanwithawirebrush.Youcanneutralizethe
acidwithasolutionofbakingsodaandwater.
