Removethedipstick,wipingitcleanwithaclean,dry,lint-freerag.If
necessary,refertoIdentifyingcomponentsintheenginecompartment
inthischapterforthelocationofthedipstick.

Installthedipstickmakingsureitisfullyseatedinthefillertube.
7.
Removethedipstickandinspect
thefluidlevel.Thefluidshouldread
withinthehotrangeonthedipstick
ifatnormaloperatingtemperature
(140°F-158°F
[60°C-70°C]).
Checkingautomatictransmissionfluidatcooltemperature
(59°F-77°F
[15°C-25°C])
Ifafluidcheckisnecessaryatalow
fluidtemperature(59°F-77°F
[15°C-25°C]),
performthecheck
usingthecoldrangeonthedipstick.
However,thefluidmustbe
re-checkedattheproperfluidtemperature.
Lowfluidlevel
Donotdrivethevehicleifthefluid
leveldoesnotshowatallonthe
dipstick.
Drivingthevehiclewithlessthan
therecommendedfluidlevelmayresultintransmissionfailure.Anunder
fillconditionoftransmissionfluidmaycauseshiftand/orengagement
concernsand/orpossibledamagetothetransmission.
Highfluidlevel
