Roadside Emergencies
WARNING:Whenawheelisinstalled,alwaysremoveany
corrosion,dirtorforeignmaterialspresentonthemounting
surfacesofthewheelorthesurfaceofthewheelhub,brakedrumor
brakediscthatcontactsthewheel.Ensurethatanyfastenersthat
attachtherotortothehubaresecuredsotheydonotinterferewith
themountingsurfacesofthewheel.Installingwheelswithoutcorrect
metal-to-metalcontactatthewheelmountingsurfacescancausethe
wheelnutstoloosenandthewheeltocomeoffwhilethevehicleisin
motion,resultinginlossofcontrol.
Note:Inspectthewheelpilothole
priortoinstallation.Ifthereis
visiblecorrosioninwheelpilothole,
removelooseparticlesbywiping
withcleanragandapplygrease.
Applygreaseonlytothewheelpilot
holesurfacebysmearinga“dime”
(1
squarecm)sizedglobofgrease
aroundthewheelpilotsurface(1)
withendoffinger.DONOTapply
greasetolugnut/studholesor
wheel-to-brakesurfaces.
OVERHEATING
Ifthetemperaturegaugeindicatesoverheatingandyouexperience
powerloss,youhearaloudknockingorpingingnoise,theengineis
probablytoohot.
Ifthishappens:
1.
2.
Drivesafelytothesideoftheroadandparkofftheright-of-way.
ShifttheautomatictransmissionintoP(Park)orthemanual
transmissionintotheneutralposition,andapplytheparkingbrake.
3.
Turnofftheairconditioner.
WARNING:Steamfromanoverheatedengineisdangerous.The
escapingsteamcouldseriouslyburnyou.OpenthehoodONLY
aftersteamisnolongerescapingfromtheengine.
4.
Checkwhethercoolantorsteamisescapingfromunderthehoodor
fromtheenginecompartment.
