activateitormakeitinoperable
whichwouldpreventitfrom
activatinginanaccident.The
occupantsorrepairerscouldbe
seriouslyinjured.
Iftheairbag/seatbeltpretensionersystem
isworkingproperly,thewarninglight
illuminateswhentheignitionswitchis
turnedtotheONpositionorafterthe
engineiscranked.Thewarninglightturns
offafteraspecifiedperiodoftime.
Properlydisposeofthepretensioner
system:
Improperdisposalofthepretensioner
systemoravehiclewithnon-
deactivatedpretensionersis
Asystemmalfunctionisindicatedifthe
warninglightconstantlyflashes,
dangerous.Unlessallsafety
constantlyilluminatesordoesnot
illuminateatallwhentheignitionswitch
isturnedtotheONposition.Ifanyof
theseoccur,consultanAuthorizedMazda
Dealerassoonaspossible.Thesystem
maynotworkinanaccident.

Dealerhowtosafelydisposeofthe
pretensionersystemorhowtoscrap
apretensioner-equippedvehicle.

Thepretensionersystemwillactivateina
moderateorgreaterfrontalornear-frontal
collision.Itwillnotactivateinmost
rollovers,sideorrearimpacts.
Thepretensionersystemforthepassenger
isdesignedtoonlydeployinaccordance
withthetotalseatedweightonthe
passengerseat.
Nevertamperwiththeairbag/
pretensionersystemsandalwayshave
anAuthorizedMazdaDealerperform
allservicingandrepairs:
Self-servicingortamperingwiththe
systemsisdangerous.Anairbag/
pretensionercouldaccidentally
activateorbecomedisabledcausing
seriousinjuryordeath.
Somesmoke(non-toxicgas)willbe
releasedwhentheairbagsand
l
pretensionersdeploy.Thisdoesnotindicate
afire.Thisgasnormallyhasnoeffecton
occupants,however,thosewithsensitive
skinmayexperiencelightskinirritation.If
residuefromthedeploymentoftheairbags
orthepretensionersystemgetsontheskin
orintheeyes,washitoffassoonas
possible.
