SOFTWARE UPDATES
RELEASE NOTES
Model S updates its software wirelessly, providing new features throughout
your term of ownership. The first time you enter Model S after an update is
made available, a scheduling window displays on the touchscreen.
Immediately after a new version of software is installed, the touchscreen
displays Release Notes describing the new or changed features.
You can display Release Notes any time by touching the Tesla “T” at the
top center of the touchscreen, and then touching the Release Notes link.
IMPORTANT! A software update takes up to two hours to complete, and
Model S must be in Park (P) when the new software is installed.

to schedule the
installation.

immediately start
the two-hour
installation process.
Touch to display
Release Notes.
When a software update is available, a yellow clock icon appears in the
status bar. Once scheduled, the clock icon becomes white.
NOTES:
You can reschedule the installation any time before it begins by touching
the clock icon in the touchscreen’s status bar to display the software
update window.
If Model S is charging when the software update begins, the charging
process stops and resumes when the update is complete. If you are driving
Model S when the update is scheduled, the update is cancelled.
If the touchscreen displays a message indicating that a software update
was not completed, contact Tesla.
