mode,whichmustbedonetoholdthe
child-restraintsystem.
Somechild-restraintsystemsalsoemploy
speciallydesignedLATCHattachments;
referto“LATCHChild-Restraint
Systems”(page2-18).

Makesuretoremovearticlesfrom
behindthepassengerseatthatwould
preventtheseatfromslidingbackfully,
andthenslidetheseatasfarbackas
possible.
Followthesemanufacturer'sinstructions
wheninstallingachild-restraintsystemon
thepassenger'sseat,unlessyouare
attachingaLATCH-equippedchild-
restraintsystemtotheLATCHlower
anchors.Referto“LATCHChild-
RestraintSystems”(page2-18).

Pushthechild-restraintsystemfirmly
intothevehicleseat.Besurethebelt
retractsassnuglyaspossible.Clicking
fromtheretractorwillbeheardduring
retractionifthesystemisinautomatic
lockingmode.Ifthebeltdoesnotlock
theseatdowntight,repeatthisstep.
Beforeinstallingarear-facingchild-
restraintsystem,thepassengerairbag
mustbedeactivated(page2-23).
