Thesupplementalrestraintsystems(SRS)havetwobasicsubsystems:
Theairbagsystemwithinflatorsandairbags.

Theelectricalsystemwithcrashsensorsanddiagnosticmodule.

Theairbagsaremountedinthefollowinglocations:thecenterofthesteeringwheel,the
passenger-sideofthedashboard.Theyareoutofsightuntilactivated.
Thepassengerairbaghasadeactivationswitchlocatedonthecenterconsole(page2-23).

qHowtheAirBagsWork
Whenairbagcrashsensorsdetectafrontalimpactofgreaterthanmoderateforce,an
electricalcurrentissenttotheinflators.
Gasesareproducedtoinflatetheairbagsandaftertheinflation,theairbagsquickly
deflate.
Theairbagswillfunctiononlyonce.Afterthat,theairbagswillnotworkagainand
mustbereplaced.
OnlyanAuthorizedMazdaDealercanreplacethesystems.
