Theairbagsupplementalrestraintsystemsaredesignedtoprovidesupplementalprotection
onlyinthefrontseatsincertainsituations,soseatbeltsarealwaysimportantinthe
followingways:
Withoutseatbeltusage,theairbagscannotprovideadequateprotectionduringanaccident.
Seatbeltusageisnecessaryto:
Keeptheoccupantfrombeingthrownintoaninflatingairbag.
l
Reducethepossibilityofinjuriesduringanaccidentthatisnotdesignedforairbag
l
inflation,suchasroll-overorrearimpact.
Reducethepossibilityofinjuriesinfrontalcollisionsthatarenotsevereenoughto
l
activatetheairbags.
Reducethepossibilityofbeingthrownfromyourvehicle.
l
Reducethepossibilityofinjuriestolowerbodyandlegsduringanaccidentbecausethe
l
airbagsprovidenoprotectiontothesepartsofthebody.
Holdthedriverinapositionwhichallowsbettercontrolofthevehicle.
l
Childrenshouldbeprotectedbyachild-restraintsystem.Lawsvaryonthesizeachild
mustbetouseachild-restraintsystem(page2-13).
Wehaveprovidedadeactivationswitchthatwilldisablepassengerairbaginflation.Donot
switchoffthepassengerairbagwithoutreadingthe“PassengerAirBagDeactivation
Switch”(page2-23).
Carefullyconsiderwhichchild-restraintsystemisnecessaryforyourchildandfollowthe
installationdirectionsinthisOwner'sManualaswellasthechild-restraintsystem
manufacturer'sinstructions.
Pleasebeawarethatthereisnogoodwaytoanchoranuppertether,sodonotpickachild
restraintsystemthatusesuppertethersatall.
