CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM
Children riding in the car should sit in
therearseatandmustalwaysbeprop-
erly restrained to minimize the risk of
injury in an accident, sudden stop or
suddenmanoeuvre.Accordingtoacci-
dentstatistics,childrenaresaferwhen
properly restrained in the rear seats
than in the front seat. Larger children
should use one of the seat belts pro-
vided.

You are required by law to use safety
restraints for children. If small children
ride in your vehicle you must put them
inachildrestraintsystem(safetyseat).
Children could be injured or killed in a
crashiftheirrestraintsarenotproperly
secured.Forsmallchildrenandbabies,
achildseatorinfantseatmustbeused.
Beforebuyingaparticularchildrestraint
system, make sure it fits your car and
seatbelts,andfitsyourchild.Followall
the instructions provided by the manu-
facturer when installing the child re-
straint system.
o To disconnect the metal tab (a)
from the buckle (b), insert a nar-
row-ended tool into the groove
located on the buckle (b).

press the button in the locking buckle.

Thecentrebeltlatchingmechanism
is different from those for the rear
seatshoulderbelts.Whenfastening
the rear seat shoulder belts or the
rearseatcentrebelt,makesurethey
areinsertedintothecorrectbuckles
to obtain maximum protection from
theseatbeltsystemandassureproper
operation.
