The“D”rangecanbeselectedwhentowing.However,if
frequentshiftingoccurswhileinthisrange,the“3”range
shouldbeselected.
Toreducepotentialforautomatictransmissionoverheat-
ing, turn the “O/D OFF” feature ON when driving in
hillyareasorshiftthetransmissiontoDriveposition2on
moreseveregrades.Referto“TransmissionShifting”in
thissection.
NOTE: Usingthe“3”rangewhileoperatingthevehicle
under heavy operating conditions will improve perfor-
mance and extend transmission life by reducing exces-
sive shifting and heat build up. This action will also
providebetterenginebraking.

Don’tuseinhillyterrainorwithheavyloads.
Whenusingthespeedcontrol,ifyouexperiencespeed
dropsgreaterthan10mph(16km/h),disengageuntil
youcangetbacktocruisingspeed.
The automatic transmission fluid and filter should be
changedifyouREGULARLYtowatrailerformorethan
45
minutesofcontinuousoperation.See“ScheduleB”in
section 8 of this manual for transmission fluid change
intervals.

maximizefuelefficiency.
